For the first time in our group's history, we've endorsed two candidates. Julio Peña III is running for District Leader and Genesis Aquino is running for State Assemblymember, both in AD51 (Sunset Park, Red Hook, Gowanus, and South Park Slope).

What is petitioning? How will we be helping?  

Petitioning is the process of obtaining signatures from neighbors in our district who are registered Democrats. The signature literally means, "Yes, I think this person's name should appear on the ballot."  

We'll be collecting signatures with the campaigns by door-knocking from pre-designed lists. That is, the campaign will give us a list of names and addresses and we'll go out in teams to knock on doors and ask neighbors to sign our petition sheets. We'll be mixing experienced folks with new folks. So if you've done this 1,000 times before or if this is your first time, come on down and get directly involved with democracy and getting amazing folks on the ballot!
